Courses Students in Year 7 complete a full year of Visual Arts ($50 fees) and Music. Students in year 8 elective courses include "Legal Street Art" and "Paint and Draw like A Professional Artist" ($ 25 fees). Music: Students in Year 9 may choose Visual Arts ($50 fees), Photography ($50 fees ) and Music as a 2 year school certificate course. Students in Year 10 may also elect Visual Arts ($50 fees, Photography ($50 fees) and Music for 2 years as a H.S.C. courses in year 11 and year 12 Students in year 11 may elect Visual Arts ($80 fees), Photography ($50 fees) and music for a 2 year H.S.C. course
What Should My Child Be Doing This Term? Year 7: Visual Arts students will be working on the theme"Places and Spaces". All students wil be completing art works in a variety of media. 2 assessments are due this term in week 11. Music students are treating the theme of duration in a variety of musical styles, through performance, composition and listening activities. Students complete a series of rhythm dictations in class. Year 8: Visual Arts students will be electing the courses of "Legal Street Art" or "Paint and Draw Like A Professional Artist" and will present a series of variable media artmaking projects by the end of term 2. Year 9: Visual Arts students will be presenting 2 assessments on the theme" From the Sky". These are due in week 5 term2. "Working With Clay" students will be presenting a series of handbuilt ceramic artforms by the end of semester 2. Music students are studying "Introductions to the Concepts of Music". Students play one peice on their chosen instrument in concert setting.
Year 10: Visual Arts students are to complete 2 assessments by week 8 term 2 related to the theme of "Human Distortion" Photography students will complete 2 assessments related to the theme "Locate, Situate and Speculate" by week 8 term2 Music students will be studying "Popular Music" and will present a written test in class due week 6.
Year 11: Visual Arts students are to complete 2 assessments related to the theme "Environments" and will complete these assessments by week 5 term 2 Music students will be studying "Methods of notating music" . Students must write and notate a peice of original musicfor txheir own instrument.
Year 12: Visual Arts students have begun researching concepts for their B.O.W. which will be due on the 27th August 20012. Students are also working on their current cases study of "Fantasy In Art" and will present an essay in week 5 and "pop art" essay due in week 11. Photography students will be presenting their 2 assessments in week 10 term 1 related to the theme of "Traditions, Conventions, Stryles and Genres" . Music students are now working on the theme of "Popular Music". Students present a 10 minute viva voce to the class by week 4 Up-Coming Events : (1) Year 7 "Places and Spaces" artmaking due in week 10 (2) Art workshop on Tuesday afternoons from 3.20 till 4.30. (3) Art workshop for all senior students on Thursday afternoon, 4 to 6.30 pm. BBQ included. (4) Archibald Excursion for year11 and 12 students. 23rd May.
